eBay has been super successful by changing the way the whole "buy/sell" thing is done. However, the one thing they didn't offer was a way for aggressive sellers to begin targeted telemarketing campaigns towards customers. After all, you're not supposed to do that on a land line anymore, are you? But let's say you had a list of the types of things a group of people bought, a solid guess at their credit limits, things they browsed and considered buying, some personal fluff info critical for small talk in sales, how they searched for products, and other valuable data. Now all you'd need is a way to make unsolicited voice calls that couldn't be regulated.
If I were a retailer using eBay, I'd be so psyched about what eBay is about to hand me...
